Be good or big, bad, hairy-chested Mal's gonna hit youse around the head with a packet of no-name brand marshmallows!
Brough issues warning to childcare operators
The federal Minister for Families Mal Brough has warned childcare operators across Australia not to increase prices in line with increases in childcare benefits.
From July 1, the childcare benefit for parents will go up 13 per cent – saving families an average $20 a week.
Speaking in Brisbane, Minister Brough says he does not want childcare centres to cancel out the extra benefits which are soon to be paid to families doing it tough.
“It’s a free market, they are able to put up fees, but they need to know that we are not going to be casual bystanders when we are injecting $10 billion into childcare if anyone does the wrong thing,” he said.
So Broughster me ole china, you're a bit curious about that sound you can hear over here stage right?
Nothing to see here Mal. Nothing to worry your pretty little more in sorrow than in anger head about.
It's just me, Telstra and the health funds rolling about on the floor cacking ourselves senseless.
OK we're cacking ourselves, but we're simultaneously a bit confused as we try work out how we would be doing the wrong thing when you've just told us "it’s a free market" and we're "able to put up fees".
(Sorry, have to go. A CEO of one of the petrol companies now has the floor and wants to pass on another really good joke.)
